Pizza Tower is a Indie Platformer Game Developed by the Tour de pizza. Its been in development for about 5 years, its art and concept mainly done by Mcpig. The game is heavily influenced by the wario land series, earthworm jim and an art style adjacent to old cartoons.
This is the most common description you will see by reading its reviews and the words of the same developers. In my humble opinion, it should be also said that the game…its McPig’s thing, he mentions in interviews that is a project he made for himself, clearly shown by the game having many gimmicks taken from others, its a project that puts together the things one single french drunk guy that draws cartoons enjoy.
That said the game is not perfect, its creator isnt perfect or a mastermind of gaming, its a passion project that went through many experimental changes, it still ended up being a unique project that you probably couldnt fully compare to wario land 4 anymore, it moved a lot of players new players into unintentionally becoming such a love letter and successor of those products that inspired it and it became a wild ride for those who actively followed the game like me (more about it in Pizza Tower and Me section).
So thats why i wanted to waste my sweet time on writing about it for the web.
Story and Gameplay
Onto the game itself, Pizza Tower follows the Story of Peppino Spaghetti, a broke, overweight, incredibly mentally ill, Italian (derogatory). Who runs his own Pizzeria with not much success, one day, a flying pizza pie entity named PizzaFace threatens to destroy his Pizzeria at the tower accross, Peppino runs in despair into the tower, having to face multiple pizza themed foes with friends like Gustavo to help him out.

I been into Pizza Tower for a while now before release, im completely uncertain or exactly when, my oldest mention of the game in social media I could found is back in March 2020 in an Instagram story repost of a gimmick account called “your fav hates onision” that posted characters and claimed they rightful hated onision, the one I reposted had peppino on it, what weird to start this.
I remember that while looking thru my youtube recommendations sometime before covid, there was an any % speedrun of one of the demos (unsure which) I remember one of my first thoughts was that the game looked like it was done in mspaint, not in a bad way, I was just confused about what I was looking at first.
So I looked into what it was thru vinny vinesauces sage 2019 stream vod, since then I been hooked! In Covid days, I remember spending hours playing the SAGE demo, replaying the levels till getting the rank, I wasn’t any good at the game, I think I S ranked Bloodsauce And didn’t do any better at the Snick Challenge, despite that, I really enjoyed playing, Listening to the unique music and enjoying the art n expressions of the characters and enemies
The game was on the back of mind for a while, I mentioned for time to time in my personal social medias, I could definitely go off about pizza tower when mentioned! Finally at the year 2022, which was a bad year for me mentally, the Steam Page, Trailer with release date dropped, I went outside my grandma’s house to scream out of excitement when I saw it, and there was people outside their homes and vehicles staring at me.
Finished the game in a single night thanks to my friend convicing me to do so, it is still a huge interest of mine, i cant get it off me, please somebody help me.
